Tool #5

I had fun creating a story with the StoryBird program. What some fun pictures! Who knew I could be an author in such a quick amount of time!!
Then, I easily made an animoto account to create a animoto show! How slick it is to share information from your life, your research and your findings in addition to adding text to make it more meaningful.

I definitely see my students taking their research and connecting music to their learning as they share their animoto videos with their family and friends. Storybird is a great way to connect research, technology, reading, picture illustrations and writing.

I also think that Wordle is a great site for students learning words. Students can type in their spelling words, sight words, words from their word walls and recent learnings. It is an artistic way of viewing words.

Tools #4 Google Docs

I went into Google Docs and made a presentation about the art classes that I am teaching this summer on Tuesday mornings. I love it!
At the beginning of class students are read a book and following the reading, students are split into three groups (by age) and we create art projects based upone the books. The first week my students all made monsters using water bottles as a base and decorated the monsters using all sorts of creative materials. In another class students were weavers based upon a book about making yarn from sheep. Next week our students will be architectures creating buildings!
I found it easy to use and just as easy to share. I'm awaiting my feedback to be able to learn more ways and gain more ideas on how to utilize google docs in my classroom!
As of now, I believe I can use the tools in Google Apps with my team to share information from GLC meetings that I attend and I'd be able to share information from other meetings and conferences just the same! My favorite that I've worked with is the Google Docs presentation - I'm a very picture orientated person so this is a perfect way to display pictures to go with imperative information! We may not all be learners who learn by reading, many students (and adults) are visual and need realistic pictures to learn from!

Tool #3 Videos and Pictures

In this day and age it is imperative that our students learn through technology....Duh...that is what our children live with! So, I found a video - called Pay Attention - that you may view which portrays statistics and information about our era and learning. Please view!
Also, I found a cartoon video - cartoons! From ages one to a hundred, who doesn't love cartoons? Each of us takes something from each cartoon and I hope you take a postive note that will be beneficial to you from the cartoon posted on my blog. Being that I'm in an elementary classroom, the videos may not be 100% applicable to all of my students but that is differentiation!
On the picasa website I clicked on 'remix allowed' and this brought me to a community of photos that can be shared.

Tools #2

I had a difficult time - obviously reading quickly as I normally do is not always the most time efficient method of take off at the starting line...I kept trying to sign in on the upper right hand corner (where it states in bold not to do on the directions page...ha ha ha). Yes, yes, yes...I like to do things fast and yet learn the hard way. However, after my stubborness wore off and a friend in need was helped by a friend who reads thoroughly -- I got it and was able to post! Thank you, friend!
I've been on blogs before but find it quite entertaining to read blogs from different types of sights. Funny, how I'm acquainted with blogs but yet couldn't post comments today - so simple. Yet - the task is done and I will continue to post and comment!

As for the website exploration, I just joined Picasa because I love looking at photos and I have had many friends suggest the website. I love looking at great photos and exploring what others are experiencing! I also joined Classroom 2.0. It offers a wide variety of resources that will help me in the classroom in addition to my technology exploration!
Until the next,

Creating a Voki was entertaining - I actually created two but only posted one. I had a difficult time trying to post it on the blog but with the help of friends, I got it done!

So much fun searching for the designs and pictures to design the blog page!
