Tool #11
1. What are your favorite tools you now have in your personal technology toolbox? Briefly describe a particular activity that you will plan for your students using at least one of these new tools.
I really like the wordle tool and think it's a great asset to my students who are working on their sight words and word families. I also liked Wallwisher and those blogging type of tools because I like just writing quick notes to others - or a quick comment...it's so similar to texting only its to the 'community' of bloggers on that sight. I'd like to seriously work on Skype to communicate with students in other classrooms.
2. How have you transformed your thinking about the learning that will take place in your classroom? How has your vision for your classroom changed? Are you going to need to make any changes to your classroom to accommodate the 21st Century learner?
I love the fact that students can reach an understanding of content and expand their content knowledge as far as they would like to go with as much resources that is at their hands. How powerful is that to teach students to be self-sufficient learners? LOVE IT!
3. Were there any unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you?
I am surprised at how many sights I am now a part of - am I going to have time for my family?! LOL!!! I best be making a sight so I can communicate with them!

Tool #10
Digital Citizenship -
I plan to teach the parents and students that everything they read may not be correct so they need to go into websites with that in mind.
For my students and parents, I plan to teach about internet safety (SO IMPORTANT in SO MANY WAYS!!!), how to be creative and to go with individual creativity for all that you do. I also want studnets and parents to know how to communicate and collaborate information with others.
I am one to research for every little thing I wonder about...this can be good and it can be annoying to my husband...LOL!!! I seriously research everything so I think it is important that I teach parents to research on their own to show them that there are so many answers to all of their questions and problems. I also would like for my students to be just as self-sufficient in expanding their knowledge as well.

Why do you think it is important to tie the technology to the objective? Here's how I see it - Why teach more when you can teach smarter? Also, our stduents' are geared for technology - technology it today!
Why should we hold students accountable for the stations/centers?
Because students need to be monitored - we need to be able to see how the students are progressing and where their needs are so we can base our small group teaching on their weaker arease.
Visit 2 of the applicable links to interactive websites for your content/grade level. Which sites did you like. How could you use them as stations? How can you hold the students accountable for their time in these stations?
I would have the students log into the computer and then write down what page they are on and the amount of time on a google document.
List two to three apps you found for the iPod Touch/iPad that you can use in your classroom.
Sight Words, Word Families and Kidztory Animated Story Books are 3 apps that I intend on having for my students on the i-pad/i-touches.
What do you see that station looking like? I-pad/i-touches will be located in one area of my classroom so students aren't distracted when they are in small groups with me.

I would have the students write down what page they are on and the amount of time on a google document.
What about other ways to use the iPod Touch/iPad? Share another way you can see your students using the device as a station.
I've used it as students walk to and from class so that they are occupied and learning even as they are in transition to their other classes.

Tool #8
This past school year I had the opportunity to have an itouch in my classroom. I received so much feedback from all of my students! I used it soley for academics to begin with but then found SO SO SO many applications to add to it that I began to add miscellaneous apps that were good for the brain as well and had time set aside in the students learning to earn to use those apps. It was a driving force with the students who had behavior issues, it drove them to behave more respectfully with me and in their classrooms! I loved it!
The only downfall is that I had to log in the application and the amount of time that the students spent on each app. After logging in this information, I actually began to see it not so much as a downfall but more as advantageous. I was able to see what the students like and how they were learning - say...their math facts!
Even though I'm not required to log in the information, I still want my students to log their app use so I can monitor and adjust as needed! :)

Tool #7
This past year I worked with 3rd grade students very closely...since I'm in the fourth grade hallway and I really am interested in continuing to learn about my learners...I would like to work with them to advance their communication and language through technology. A lot of their peers question their whereabouts and what they are doing so I think it'd be great to have a video chatting time with their classmates when they are in the resource classroom. I think it'd be a great move forward towards a more inclusive environment
Objective: Researching information on famous people
When: I'd like to begin this project in the first quarter.
Tools: google docs and skype
Plan: To work on researching and learning to write down information about famous people in the first quarter. Students then will be able to learn the programs such as google docs and then skype with other students to share their information and gain new ideas to broaden their research.

Using Wallwisher is such a fun way to communicate! I intend to use it as a tool to share stories from our summer. What a great way to build a bond between everyone. I've often thought of having a poll for students and even with coworkers...that's about as far as that process went...
Now that I've completed this tool, I now know have access right at my fingertips!
